The clients of this typical London terraced house were expecting a baby and wanted to enlarge the kitchen to include a dining space, create a downstairs toilet and allow space for a pram and coats. To achieve this the house has been extended into the side return, large sliding folding doors were used to open the room to the garden, giving a great feeling of space. A large area of glass roof was also included to maintain daylight into the original dining room. The original French doors were kept and Oak stairs added that lead into the new kitchen. The extension was carefully detailed so that there are no down stand beams and the garden doors are floor to ceiling creating a uniform room with clean lines, and maximising daylight.
