A development of 7 apartments above 2 commercial units. Undertaken for Yeates Design + Architecture.
This tight and irregular site close to Chiswick town centre and Chiswick Park tube proved a complex planning issue. Although the design responds to the corner site and the size of the surrounding buildings the Local Planning authority decided that it was an over-development of the site and contrary to local policy. By working closely with a planning consultant we were able to persuade the Appeal Officer that our proposal should be looked at in its immediate context and that the design responded to this. The design was awarded planning approval on appeal, and the Appeal Officer went so far as to commend the design.
